Here are some photos taken at Bondi Beach on Sunday 12th August 2007. About 60,000 people lined up for the event which started at 9:00am.
It was a superb day - fine, warm and a blue sky.
A splendid day. Nearer the end of the runners,
many people drank half their glass of water and then poured the rest
over themselves or over their friends.
This year there seemed to be far fewer people running in costumes - missing were all the girls dressed as fairies or Wonder Woman or with Sarah-Marie style rabbit ears, plus all the guys dressed as gorillas or as Superman. However, full marks to the two men dressed as Braveheart Warriors, and the man dressed as Borat in the appropriate green swimming costume. The dreadful inflatable jumbo jet was missing from Bondi Beach Park thank goodness, but the inane commentary along the beach front was as silly as ever. A new feature was ambulances, with sirens wailing, driving through the runners from behind at North Bondi. And Sydney Buses needs to consider a second bus service via Curlewis Street, the existing service cannot cope with the peak demand. Behind the scenes though, it's extremely well organised. |
