Latest Stats as at 15/12/2011. ============================= These figures cover the 15-day period 16/11/2011 to 30/11/2011. Things are more normal this fortnight. The figures given last time for Macs and for Safari were way too high. There seemed to be unusual surges of visits, but I was unable to exclude all of them. This time, results are closer to what might be expected. However, close inspection of the Linux visits and the Pre-XP Windows visits show easily 10% of them are suspect. Unfortunately, the same IP addresses are also generating suspect visits from XP and Windows-7 machines. On the other hand, some IP addresses as used by service providers generate many good visits all from one IP address. It's very difficult and/or time consuming to sort the good from the bad. Operating System Market Share ============================== For the period 16th to 30th November 2011, these percentage figures are based on visits, with earlier figures in brackets:- Windows-7 31.8 (29.9, 32.5, 31.0, 31.7, 31.4, 30.7) XP 27.4 (28.0, 27.7, 30.1, 29.7, 30.5, 31.4, 31.4) Vista 9.4 (8.7, 9.8, 10.5, 10.2, 10.7, 10.5, 11.2) Pre-XP Windows 1.9 (1.7, 2.2, 1.9, 1.7, 1.6, 1.2) Mac 12.3 (15.4, 13.0, 12.4, 12.0, 12.1, 12.1, 11.6) iPhone etc 11.1 (10.9, 9.3, 8.4, 9.0, 8.4, 8.2, 8.4) Android 2.5 (2.1, 2.0, 2.1, 1.9, 1.7, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9) Other Mobiles 2.7 (2.5, 2.6, 2.9, 2.8, 2.9, 3.3) Linux 0.8 (0.7, 0.9, 0.7, 0.9, 0.7, 1.0, 1.0, 1.1) The result for Apple Mac is more reasonable this fortnight. Once again iPhone and Android are up slightly. The earlier high growth rate for Windows-7 has eased off; perhaps a hard core are sticking with XP. Actually, many new computers are sold as Xmas presents, and a surge in the percentage of Windows-7 is expected early in the new Year. The total sample size above was 18757. Browser Breakup =============== Percentages of visits for the period 16th to 30th November 2011:- IE 39.3 (40.4, 41.1, 41.0, 41.7, 42.4, 42.0, 41.2, 39.0) Safari 22.5 (24.8, 20.6, 19.5 (19.8, 19.3, 18.5, 18.5) FF 17.2 (16.7, 18.7, 18.6, 18.6, 19.0, 20.2, 20.4, 23.4) Chrome 17.0 (14.8, 15.8, 17.1, 16.2, 15.3, 15.0, 15.3) Opera 2.4 (1.9, 2.1, 2.1, 2.0, 2.4, 2.3, 2.4, 2.3) All Others 1.6 (1.5, 1.7, 1.7, 1.7, 1.9, 2.0, 2.2, 2.5) A more reasonable figure for Safari. Firefox is losing ground to Chrome and Safari and has little support on smart phones. Chrome could easily pass Firefox in the next set of results. The sample size was 18818 visits by humans.
