Latest Stats as at 5/12/2011. ============================= These figures cover the 15-day period 1/11/2011 to 15/11/2011. The last few weeks have seen a steep rise in the total number of hits. Perhaps summer in Bondi is sufficient reason. However, there has a been a big increase in the number of hits where just a single picture is displayed. It has been very hard to weed these visits out as "surges", since the visits seem to come via emails and/or newsletters. The originating web site is not shown on the each visit, and thus it is not really possible to pinpoint the "surges" that have a common cause. The downside of all this is that the figures below seem to show an excess of visitors using mobiles, Apple products and the browser Safari. The search engine results are not affected since the extra visits do not involve searching. Operating System Market Share ============================== For the period 1st to 15th November 2011, these percentage figures are based on visits, with earlier figures in brackets:- Windows-7 29.9 (32.5, 31.0, 31.7, 31.4, 30.7, 29.9) XP 28.0 (27.7, 30.1, 29.7, 30.5, 31.4, 31.4, 31.7) Vista 8.7 (9.8, 10.5, 10.2, 10.7, 10.5, 11.2, 11.4) Pre-XP Windows 1.7 (2.2, 1.9, 1.7, 1.6, 1.2, 1.4) Mac 15.4 (13.0, 12.4, 12.0, 12.1, 12.1, 11.6, 10.9) iPhone etc 10.9 (9.3, 8.4, 9.0, 8.4, 8.2, 8.4, 7.9) Android 2.1 (2.0, 2.1, 1.9, 1.7, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9) Other Mobiles 2.5 (2.6, 2.9, 2.8, 2.9, 3.3, 3.4) Linux 0.7 (0.9, 0.7, 0.9, 0.7, 1.0, 1.0, 1.1) The latest measurements show a decrease for Windows-7 and an increase for XP. Frankly, this is unlikely, as is the big jump for Apple products. Android up slightly; Vista, Pre-XP Windows, Other Mobiles and Linux all down. Within the Android category, the market leaders are Samsung and HTC. Both are now clear of Blackberry and Nokia. Samsung and HTC both make phones with a range of operating systems, the breakup is roughly Android 80%, Windows 6% and Others 14%. The total sample size above was 23701. Browser Breakup =============== Percentages of visits for the period 1st to 15th November 2011:- IE 40.4 (41.1, 41.0, 41.7, 42.4, 42.0, 41.2, 39.0, 41.8) Safari 24.8 (20.6, 19.5 (19.8, 19.3, 18.5, 18.5, 17.8) FF 16.7 (18.7, 18.6, 18.6, 19.0, 20.2, 20.4, 23.4, 19.2) Chrome 14.8 (15.8, 17.1, 16.2, 15.3, 15.0, 15.3, 14.9) Opera 1.9 (2.1, 2.1, 2.0, 2.4, 2.3, 2.4, 2.3, 2.8, 2.2) All Others 1.5 (1.7, 1.7, 1.7, 1.9, 2.0, 2.2, 2.5, 2.3) An unrealistic jump in Safari forces a drop in everything else. Actually Internet Explorer is hanging on pretty well, the real trend could be Firefox losing ground to Chrome and Safari. The sample size was 23777 visits by humans. Search Engines Share ==================== Percentage breakup of visits coming via search engines for November 1st to 15th, 2011:- Google 90.0 (90.3, 90.5, 91.1, 89.7, 90.5, 90.6, 90.5) Bing 4.1 (3.5, 3.4, 2.8, 3.3, 3.6, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 3.6) Yahoo 3.5 (3.6, 3.4, 3.5, 4.5, 3.6, 3.7, 2.8, 3.2, 3.1) All others 2.4 2.6 (2.7, 2.6, 2.4, 2.3, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2) A tiny drop in Google looks like a surge of support for Yahoo and Bing. Bing and Yahoo have swapped places once again. The sample size above was 15992 visits. ================================ ===============================
