Perhaps the punters find IE-9 acceptable. I have read that IE-9 is only available for Windows-7 but I see lots of surfers with earlier Windows versions all claiming they have IE-9. Chrome is going spectacularly well with their automatic updating, with over 85% on already on Chrome 13. Meanwhile Firefox has 34% on the latest Firefox 6 but roughly 30% still stuck at version 3.6. Some of us are still on version 3.0. And despite some website claims to the contrary, Windows 98 can only run Firefox 2. Internet Explorer has about 52% on version 8, 29% on version 7 and 17% on version 9. Here are some results for which browsers are used on the various operating systems. Firstly, for Windows XP it's IE 60%, Firefox 24% and Chrome 14%. For Vista it's IE 55%, Firefox 23% and Chrome 22%, whilst on Windows-7 it's IE 53%, Firefox 24% and Chrome 22%. For pre-XP Windows we have IE 83%, on iPhones/iPads 100% Safari, and Mac computers Safari 69%, Firefox 20% and Chrome 11%. Linux is 70% Firefox and the browser on Androids is 87% Safari. To cut a long story short, IE is in slow decline, Chrome is on the way up and Firefox is static, whilst Safari is a large and growing niche market on Apple products. The sample size was 16563 visits by humans.
