Latest Stats as at 16/7/2008. Vista Market Share ================== For period 1 to 15th July 2008, figures based on visits:- XP 74.4% Vista 12.9 Other Windows 5.8 Mac 5.2 Linux 1.2 Others 0.4 This is a rise over the June 16 to 30 figure for Vista which was 11.0%. This rise for Vista took place over just a few days, as some intermediate figures now show... July 1-5 10.1 July 1-7 11.2 July 1-10 11.3 July 1-13 12.9 The results for March to June show Vista has stalled at around 11% or 12%, the result for June 2008 was a drop over May 2008. But the latest figures show an increase, possibly the new financial year has helped. Browser Breakup =============== For period 1-15 July: IE 68.5 FF 22.5 Safari 3.8 Opera 1.3 All Others 3.9 These figures are based on IP addresses. Firefox, as they predicted, is over the 20% mark and is increasing steadily. In the next lot of results for 16 to 31st July, some figures currently counted as "others" will be counted as IE, so the others category may fall over the next two weeks. But all those "other browsers" don't amount to much, anyway. Also the calculation of what is "human" will be a little stricter. Saying it gently, about 1% of people "surfing the net" are not fair dinkum, and are really up to no good at all. They are not "robots" (meaning search engines etc) and they are not "human" neither. In my opinion, it would barely matter if they were banned. But then all the criminals would simply configure their equipment better. Firefox 3 Takeup ================ These figures are based on visits, and only from an OS where the breakup is clear. For example FF3 is not available for Windows 98, so Windows 98 has been be excluded. FF1 4.0% FF2 73.1 FF3 22.9 FF3 was 5.2 for 1-15 June and 15.4 for 16-30 June. This is a very good result, more than 3% shift per week, not unlike the takeup of IE-7 over IE-6, or the takeup of Netscape-3 over Netscape-2 years ago. Search Engines Share ==================== July 1-15th Google 86.6 Yahoo 7.5 Microsoft 2.1 All others 3.7 Previous figures, June 16-30 Google 86.2 Yahoo 7.8 Microsoft 2.3 All others 3.7 It's great to see everyone drinking Pepsi, buying Mac computers and using search engines designed for Australians. Hum-ho. =========================================================== PS: ADIDAS = all day I dream about sex.
