Latest Stats as at 11/7/2012. ============================ These figures cover the 15-day period 16/6/2012 to 30/6/2012. It's been a bit of a struggle getting the figures reasonably correct. Generally, my policy has been to allow short but genuine visits of only one or two hits, as this is not unusual for tablets and smartphones where someone has clicked on a link to a single picture. The result, of course, is that I am measuring higher percentages for tablets and smartphones than many experts. Unfortunately there is a lot of rubbish out there too. Firstly, I noticed the percentage for Opera jumped from 2.2 to 3.3 and I soon discovered I had not managed to exclude 328 one-hit visits where people were watching an animation of a rat smoking. And 177 of these people were using Opera browsers, heaven only knows why. Next, some dill from Europe was calling a tiny icon for his own use, giving around 590 pointless visits from Germany and The Netherlands. Lastly I discovered a computer from Beijing had made 64 visits in two weeks and was claiming to be XP and Firefox 3.5. These XP visits from China and under-developed countries are a real problem. These countries make very few genuine visits to Australian web sites. Originally these fakes were a dead give away as they showed up as "lib-perl"; then they became "Windows 95" and "Windows 98", but now they are vanilla XP and harder to spot.
