A Surge of Hits to the Non Smokers' Web Site ============================================ At 1:48 am English time on 24th May, someone on a forum at www.bodybuilding.com linked to a picture of a fat young woman smoking on the Non Smokers' web site at www.nsma.org.au. It was the 29th post in a long but pointless discussion about "Chicks Who Smoke". There were 58 hits in the first 12 minutes, followed by 467 in the next hour, then 213 and 101 hits for the hour. There were only 29 hits in the next 20 hours, followed by three in the next four days. In total there were 871 hits to the picture, and these hits have been excluded from the figures already presented above. The speed of this surge was quite amazing, given the sudden onset and the equally abrupt decline. One could write a thesis trying to analyse what the "body-builders" might be on about, but basically they are hunting in a pack. Nobody had a kind word for the girl smoker yet 20 years ago many people equivalent to them would have smoked. Here is an analysis of the equipment they are using, and their countries. The 871 hits came from a total of 853 computers and the figures below are based on the 853 machines. That's where the money is. Countries: USA 75%, Canada 13%, Australia 4%, UK 2%, NZ 1%, not in countries database 2% and rest of world 4%. Operating System: Vista 35.1%, XP 28.8, Windows-7 22.9, Other Windows 0.5, Mac 9.0, Linux 0.8, iPhone 1.9, Other mobiles 0.8%. That's well over 50% for Vista plus Windows-7, and a clear preference for the iPhone over the rest of the mobiles. Forget about Linux or older versions of Windows. For mobiles there were 14 iPhones, 4 Androids, 3 iPads, 2 Blackberries and 1 Java phone. Browser: Firefox 52.9%, MSIE 22.5, Chrome 15.3, Safari 7.4, Opera 1.4 and Others 0.6%. Amazing, all this is way outside the usual results. Is this the shape of things to come??? ============================ =============================
