Latest Stats as at 18/4/2009. These figures cover the 15-day period 1/4/2009 to 15/4/2009. Previous figures are in brackets and each figure spans half a month. Vista Market Share ================== For period 1st to 15th April 2009, figures based on visits:- XP 64.5 (was 64.1, 67.3, 66.2, 65.3, 64.1, 64.7, 64.2, 66.2, 66.7) Vista 22.1 (was 20.4, 21.1, 21.1, 20.4, 20.9, 22.0, 21.9, 19.6, 19.7) Other Windows 3.7 (was 5.5, 3.5, 3.6, 4.3, 4.9, 3.3, 3.9, 4.3, 4.2, 4.7) Mac 7.2 (was 7.4, 5.9, 6.7, 7.8, 7.9, 7.7, 7.3, 7.6, 7.3, 6.6, 6.6) Linux 1.0 (was 1.2, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.0, 1.2, 1.2, 0.9, 1.1, 1.1, 1.2) Others 1.5 (was 1.5, 1.4, 1.5, 1.2, 1.2, 1.1, 1.5, 1.3, 1.1, 0.7, 0.8) These figures are for "humans" only. Mobile phones (including iPhones) and various gadgets are in the Others category. The Vista figure is the highest ever recorded. This month's discovery is that Google and other search engines crawl the net pretending to be mobile phones. Their agents strings correctly say they are robots, so don't be misled by works like Samsung or Nokia. The reason for this is presumably to make sure they get served with the mobile phone version of a website if it's available. Browser Breakup =============== Percentages of visits for the period 1st to 15th April 2009. If the drift is about 1% per month, they will be equal share in September next year and all hell will break loose inside Microsoft. The figures for Safari include Safari on the iPhone, and the Opera results include Opera Mini on mobiles. Search Engines Share ==================== Percentage breakup of visits coming via search engines for April 1st to 15th 2009:- Google 87.3 (was 86.3, 86.8, 85.4, 85.8, 85.5, 82.8, 84.3, 85.6, 86.9, 85.8) Yahoo 6.7 (was 6.3, 7.1, 8.0, 7.8, 8.0, 10.1, 9.1, 7.9, 7.6, 7.6, 8.1, 7.5) Microsoft 2.4 (was 2.9, 2.3, 2.5, 2.3, 2.3, 2.6, 3.2, 3.0, 2.7, 3.1, 2.5) All others 3.6 (was 4.5, 3.8, 4.1, 4.2, 4.1, 4.5, 3.3, 3.6, 2.7, 3.4, 3.1) Doom and gloom for Microsoft and Yahoo, their combined share for searching remains under 10%. Commentators who say Google's share is increasing are correct. The "Others" result include AOL at 0.6% and Ask at 0.7%, but other companies are well behind this. ============================== ==============================
